Gov Amaechi test the water, calls for NGF meeting tomorrow

Rivers State Gov. Rotimi Amaechi has called for his own Nigeria's Governors Forum tomorrow just days after Plateau State Gov. Jonah Jang had a meeting with 16 governors.

The meeting will hold in Abuja and it is not know for now the numbers of governors that will attend the meeting. Coincidentally, President Goodluck Jonathan also called all state governors for a dinner in Abuja tomorrow. Dear readers, do you smell something?

OJB Jezreel a popular muisc producer and a artiste is in need of an urgent kidney transplant in India. The veteran producer said that he only had 8 to 10weeks to live. H e said this in am interview he granted to soft sell magazine, Encomium yesterday June 24th.....

"When early diagnosis was done, it was just a case of renal failure. Right now, my two kidneys are gone. We are running dialysis at the moment. It started two years ago, but gradually depreciated. Most people tend to attribute kidney problem to drinking and smoking. I was told it doesn't have anything to do with that, because as much as I drink and smoke then, it was casual drinking. Maybe they offer you a bottle of drink and all that but not like I drink 15 bottles a day. I have a friend who has gone through this and he never drank or smoked.

"The whole process of the treatment from pre-process, transplanting process and post-transplanting will cost about $100, 000. In two years I have spent up to N5million which I have been trying to maintain myself. That is why it has been kept secret."

"God willing, I have like eight to ten weeks more to get the transplant done. It's strange, I still walk around a little. I can't eat much though. I trust God and Nigerians for their financial support"

UNILAG Creative Arts students protest sexual harassment by lecturers

The female students of the University of Lagos Creative Arts Department this morning took up placards to protest the injustice being meted out to them by their lecturer.

The student started their protest from the school Arts blok before they moved their greviance to the social Science.

According to them, their lecturer always required that the have sexaul relationship with them before thay could be able to pass their course, so a meeting was held yesterday and this morning they protested.

There were uproar about two weeks ago that a student of Obafemi Awolowo University had wanted to flush her baby in the Moremi Hall toilet before the baby was rescue by cleaners in the school

But investigation revealed later that the 22 year old  Oyinlola Rotimi  the mother of infant, who is a 400level undergradute of Mechanical Engineering department did not intend to flush her baby but the incident happened because of the inexperience of the mother.

According to her, She had been purging through the night after eating bean cake for dinner. And due to her lack of knowledge in child birth, she had gone to the toilet again but unknown to her, the crunching pain she had been having are sign of labor.

So when she tried to defecate this time around a baby pop out of her and she raised an alarm for her friend, who also called the cleaners who brought out the baby boy from the water closet.

The 22 year old said she never intended to kill her baby after having to go through the pains of carrying for nine months.

Rotimi claimed that she is now a celebrity in the school and all over the world because of the circumstances that surrounded the birth of her son.

LEDAP and other human rights organisations condemns hanging of death row inmates

LEDAP condemns today's execution of 4 death row prisoners; Chima Ejiofor, Daniel Nsofor, Osarenmwinda Aiguokhan and Richard Igagu in Edo State despite their pending appeals at the court of appeal. The AG of Edo State and the prison authorities were duly served with the court processes comprising the notice of appeal and motion for stay of execution.

Under the Nigerian laws, an appeal and application for stay of execution should restrain further action until the appeal is determined. By executing the prisoners, Nigeria government has demonstrated gross disregard to the rule of law and respect for the judicial process.

Four death row inmates hanged in Edo State

 

The governor took to the challenged of President Goodluck Jonathan to sign the death warrants of the condemned criminals to reduced the increasing spat of crime in the country.

Four death row inmates were hanged in Benin, Edo State, today Monday June 24th, after their death warrants were signed by the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

The inmates included Osaremwinda Aigbuohian and Daniel Nsofor, whose lawyers have been struggling to obtain a stay of execution on the death sentence; and two other convicts whose identities are yet to be ascertained.

Hollywood star, Wil Smith had been dropped from a movie for being too expensive. According to reports, Smith was dropped from as the lead actor in the second part of 'Independence Day.

The Director, Roland Emmerich cited that, Will Smith who was the original cast of the 1996 'Independence Day was dropped because on financials contrains and because of his popularity.

The release date of 'Independence Day 2 is ssheducle for July 3, 2013, 19 years after the first one was released.
