Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has been appointed the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Yakubu will take over from the acting INEC chairman, Mrs. Bala Zakari, who was also appoint by president Buhari as member of INEC officers representing the Northern part of the country.
Yakubu's appointment, however, has not been confirmed by the Senate.

A 40-year old Information Technologist, Mr Samuel Bankole on Tuesday told an Igando Customary court in Lagos that his father-in-law was responsible for his leaving his matrimonial home.
Bankole, who was responding to a divorce suit filed by his wife, Iyabo, said his father in-law forced him out because he was unable to pay the house rent.
“My wife always pay the rent because I am not buoyant enough but the last rent was paid by my father-in-law who had been threatening me to vacate the house or commit suicide.

Two Arik Air planes yesterday Tuesday 20th, collided with each other while maneuvering out of the apron at the General Aviation Terminal ( GAT) of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, in Lagos.
As a result of this the two planes have their wing tips damaged and have now been grounded to allow further investigations into the cause of the incident.
The airline spokesperson, Adebanji Ola in a statement confirmed the incident
