Dame Patience Jonathan loses mum in auto accident

THERE was anxiety in Port Harcourt on Monday as news of the death of Mrs. Iwari-Oba, the mother of the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, spread in the Rivers State capital.

The mother of Mrs. Jonathan was said to have been involved in a ghastly motor accident along Elele Road in Rivers State.

It was gathered that the woman, who is from Okrika Local Government Area, was on her way to Bayelsa State when the accident happened.

Unconfirmed report indicated that her corpse was taken to Kpaiyama Mortuary by a team of policemen and a member representing Ogu Bolo State Constituency, Mr. Evans Bipi, who is a relative to the deceased.

Though, the police and the Federal Road Safety Commission in the state could not confirm the incident, an aide to Bipi said the First Lady’s mother died in a road accident, which occurred at about 4pm.

Bipi’s aide, Mr. Fred Itobo, told The PUNCH that the President’s wife’s mother was involved in the accident while she was on her way to Bayelsa State.

Ondo State Senator, weeps for voting in favour of girl child marriage

 

The Ondo State senator, who was among those who voted in favour of girl chid marriage, has come out to say that he voted in error because he was misleaded.

The member representing Ondo Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, wept before members of his constituency in Akure on Monday as he apologised to them that he voted in error to support the senate resolution backing marriage of underage girls.

Akinyelure was summoned by his constituents to explain his role in the controversial passage of a resolution to retain the provision of Section 29 (4) (b) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that a married underage girl is deemed to be an adult.

The birth makes history in the British royal family and in Great Britain as the baby is a future king to the royal linkage. The baby was born at the St Mary Hospital in Paddington around 4:24 british time yesterday afternoon, July 22nd.

Anothe Super Eagles star, Pius Oleh is dead. The former footballer, who was residing in the US until his death was found in his car. It was suspected that Oleh inhaled carbon monoxide, which caused his death. But in another quatres, Oleh was reported to have committed suicide. May his soul rest in peace.

According to the rumour, the two decided to wed secretly because of the opposition of the church members to their union. Members of the church were also reported to be absent from the wedding.

It would be recalled that Sumbo and Pastor Adeoye had plan to get married some months back but the members of the church which Sumbo is also a member opposed their union which necessetiate some members leaving the church.

On the date fixed for the wedding, Sumbo, who is one of 2face baby mama, was seen in the US with her kids.

Hawker 3 others killed Lagos building collapse

A very sad incident, always sad when things like this happened. May their family be console by God grace.

 

Four persons, including a 15-year-old hawker identified only as Sukurah, lost their lives on Sunday after a two-storey building under construction, collapsed in Surulere, Lagos State.

Our correspondent, who visited the building on Ishaga Street, learnt that the building collapsed around 10am during the early morning rain.

PUNCH Metro also learnt that three people were rescued and were responding to treatment at different hospitals.

A friend of the 15-year-old victim, Tobi, told PUNCH Metro that she had gone to the building to sell bread to labourers few minutes before the collapse.

30 year old pregnant woman Kill first husband

 

Thirty-year-old pregnant woman, Fatimoh Issa, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command for allegedly killing her first husband, Issa Yunusa, 48.

 

Our correspondent gathered on Sunday that Yunusa was a commercial motorcyclist in Ilorin.

Though the marriage had been blessed with three children, it was said that Fatimoh abandoned Yunusa after he had an accident and became financially incapacitated as he was no longer able to operate his commercial motorcycle business.

 

Fatimoh was said to have later met another man, Gani Ajibade, 25, a tricycle driver, with whom she started another relationship.
