Police drop fraud charges aginst former ex- Deputy Gov. Sinatu Ojikutu

 

The police have dropped the N130m fraud charges it instituted against a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, before a Federal High Court, Lagos.

Justice Mohammed Yunusa, in a short ruling, struck out the charges on Wednesday upon an application by the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Effiong Asuquo, for the withdrawal of the charges against Ojikutu.

The police gave no reason for withdrawing the charges.

However, the arraignment of the woman had been stalled twice in February due to her moves to settle with the complainant, who was said to be the victim of the alleged fraud.

The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police had charged her with three counts of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

They argued a lot and laughed a lot, I just couldn't tell anymore when they were quarrelling or playing. There was a lot of love in my family, for a long time, my folks were like two teenagers in love, there was so much kissing between them that I came to accept that as a show of love and wanted to kiss every girl I fancied. They loved to entertain, so we continuously had guest come over. I grew up believing that every day was some ‘kinda’ celebration. Some of the things that molded me were not only my father’s regimental training and how he was always quick with the cane, but his love for my mum also had a great impart on me. This is the setting, the background of love I am coming from, my pedigree, my rich heritage. It is my pride.

According to the information gathered, the refugees are not finding comfort in their move to Niger, has they now live under harsh condition along the road.

Some of the affeced victims of the Boko Haram, attack now live, under trees and cardboard homes.

They have also been living on charity giving to them by the locals and aid organisations..

Man who cut off wife's fingers arrested again for attempted murder

 

The police has arrested one Mr. Michael Okoli, for attempting to murder is his, Mrs. Felicia Okoli, during a domestic dispute at their home.

 According to the story, Okoli, a police spy and elder of celestial Church of Christ, had kept the sum of #70, 000 at home as part payment of their house rent but could not find it on his return.

When he asked his wife of eighteen years and mother of four about the missing money, she was reported to have responded angrily that she took the money since she was the one who has been taken care off the children.

That did not, however, go down well with Okoli,who brought out his manchete which he used to inflict deep cuts on his wife.

She was rushed to different private hospital but was rejected but later accepted at the Gbagada General Hospital, were she is currently undergoing treatment.

Before the latest incident, Okoli, had earlier cut off his wife fingers during a fight but went back to him.

According to Vanguard, a cousin of President Jonathan, has been abducted by Gunmen in Bayelsa. Read reports

The peace of Otuoke, hometown of President Goodluck Jonathan in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State was Sunday night violated by gunmen who abducted a prominent chief of the community said to be a cousin to President Goodluck Jonathan.Vanguard learnt that the victim, identified as Chief Inengite Nitabai, aged 70 was kidnapped at about 9pm by ten heavily armed men.The kidnapped Chief is described as the traditional head of the compound from which the President hails from, according to a community source.“Nitabai is the cousin of President Goodluck Jonathan, and was kidnapped from his compound located before Otuoke bridge, off Otu-Okpoti-Ogbia Road without a gunshot,” the source said.Nitabai it was further learnt has been acting like a father to the President since Jonathan’s real biological father died. The victim, his wife and his wife’s sister and three of his children were in the house when the assailants stormed the compound.

Some days back, the R&B singer, had announced that he would be donating 100% of the revenue from the sales of his collartune 'Oshe' towards the post-operative care of the baby, who had just had an operation to correct a serious heart condition known as hole in the heart.

Praiz, learnt that, the baby, Somaya Olayinka Dahli, who was operated upon in late 2013, would need futher treatment, monitoring and care to keep her alive and he decided to help.

Femi Falana appeals to Gov. Fashola to reduce LASU fees

Recently, there was a protest by the student of Lagos State Polytechnic over the increase of their school fees which led to property worth million to be destroyed by the rioting students.

 

In response to that, popular lawyer and human right activist, Mr. Femi Falana(SAN), has appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to reduce the school fees

A human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has urged Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State to reduce the fees of the Lagos State University students.

Falana, in a statement on Sunday, commended Fashola for directing the reopening of the university without imposing reparation fees on the students for the repairs of facilities damaged during the crisis which led to the closure of the institution.

The university was shut following the January 23, 2014 students’ protest against hike in fees.

The governor had directed that the university be reopened on Monday (today).

But Falana insisted that the “skyrocketing tuition” imposed on the students could not be justified given the poor economic conditions of many of the students’ parents.
