Lauryn Hill jails for three months for tax evasion

Grammy Award winning singer, Lauryn Hill, has been sentenced to three months in jail for failure to pay federal income taxes for a period of three years.

She had earlier pleaded guilty to the charges of evading taxes between 2005 to 2007. Hill told the preceeding judge that she intended to pay but it is only a matter of when, to which the judge said 'citizen don't get to choose when to pay the government'.

Hill will begin her jail time starting from July 8 for failure to pay federal income taxes for three years, followed by three months home confinement and a year of probation which will be closely monitored and supervised.

The singer will still pay for the taxes, she is still owing the federal as well as paying a fine of $60, 000.

Hill pleaded guilty to owing taxes to the tune of $1.8 between 2005 to 2007.

I don't think what her lawyer said at the last hearing of her case, that she was working out a music contract with Sony Worldwide Entertainment as come through.

So sorry for Lauryn but why can't her colleagues like Wyclef and others come to the aid of a sister. She too no try sef, doing all those drugs.
