Pres. Jonathan declares state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa

This, I believed is rather too late to be coming from the federal government. President Goodluck Jonathan declared the state of emergency on a nationwide live broadcast this evening, citing insecurity of lives and properties in the three northern states, Adamawa, Yobe and Borno.

The declaration gives the Nigerian Army powers to take over the state protections, though other activities will continue as normal. The state of emergency, however does not stop the amnesty proposed to the militants, though, there will be strict measures taken to ensure peace in the states.

To combats the blood bath in the states the the army will take over suspicious building and persn suspected to be in possession of arms.

The president says in his speach on terrorism "We will hunt them down, fish them out and bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror".

Good thing for the president to declare a state of emergency though, it what should have been done a long time ago. I also hope that the Nigerian Army will be able to stop the violence in these states but I wondered why the president did not include, Nassarawa State.
