Genevieve Nnaji makes Elle Magazine Superstar list

 

Star actress, Genevieve Nnaji was yesterday August 21, featured on Elle International Superstar List, it list also state that the actress and oter mentioned are the next crossover star.

''One of the most powerful actresses working in Africa, Nnaji began her career at age eight, and has been constantly working in commercials and movies ever since. She’s credited with putting Nollywood, Nigeria’s Hollywood, on the map. In 2005 she was awarded Best Actress at the inaugural African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), and used her fame to launch her clothing line, St. Genevieve, in 2008 with the proceeds from sales supporting orphanages. And she has the Oprah seal of approval—in 2009 Nnaji was profiled on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show , with the host referring to her as one of the most popular people around the world and the “Julia Roberts of Africa.''

On the list is  former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, English singer Pixie Lott and Mexican pop star Anahi.

You recently premiere your first movie 'The Mistress' how has the response been so far?
It has been overwhelming especially online. Because it is being view online, it has been showing on iRokoTV but it is going to be officially released on Monday. People actually think it is out because the movie as actually sold itself. The demand is much. We have order from people who want to distribute. Which is strange, I am really really excited that people want to. it is a brand new chapter and it officially coming to DVD.

You had earlier talked of taking it to the cinema, what happened?

 

It was to be premiere but the time they gave me was now and if I had waited till now to premiere, it would have been too long, people would have gotten tired. For me, it was unaccepted. I'm just going to release and do some signing in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and calabar

Since joining the league of producers. Is it harder than being an actress?Yes, it is harder than being an actress because the money is coming from your pocket. As an actress, you receive to go to the bank, I am not returning. But this one, you are bringing out money to invest which is quite different. Apart from the money I have spent, I have to manage a cast of 60, which is not easy for anyone to do. I am the executive producer but the producer is Stanley Ebonini.So, how much would you say you spent producing the movie?

Barely a month that a male officer was caught on camera for extorting money from a driver, a female police officer has also been caught on camera for the same act. The point here is that these people doesn't seem to learn from the mistakes of others.

A Lagos based lady, who was jilted by her boyfriend after dating him for 4 years, travelled to Abuja, where she poured hot oil on the said boyfriend while he was asleep.

“I did that to teach him a bitter lesson because he refused to marry me after dating me for over four years. He fooled me and my parents and ditched me after finding a new lover here in Abuja. I live in Lagos with my parents,” Victoria said.

JTF says boko haram leader Abubakar Shekau may have died of gun shot injuries

The Joint Task Force, Operation Restore Order, in Maiduguri, Borno State said intelligence report available to it “revealed that Abubakur Shekau, the most dreaded and wanted Boko Haram Terrorists leader may have died”.
The JTF in a statement by its spokesperson, Sagir Musa, on Monday said Mr. Shekau “died of gunshot wound received in an encounter with the JTF troops in one of their camps at Sambisa Forest on 30 June 2013.”
According to the statement, “Shekau was mortally wounded in the encounter and was sneaked into Amitchide – a border community in Cameroun for treatment which he never recovered.”
“It is greatly believed that Shekau might have died between 25 July to 3 August, 2013. He was reported to have masterminded the kidnap of the seven French citizens and that of the elder statesman Alhaji (Dr) Shettima Ali Monguno in addition to many murders of Islamic clerics in Northern Nigeria.

Sad News! As family of five perished in inferno

Neighbours of a family that perished in an inferno in a building located in Shagari Estate, Lagos State, said they heard the victims’ cries for help.

PUNCH Metro had reported last week Thursday that a family of five lost their lives after fire engulfed their three-bedroom apartment in the early hours of Wednesday.

The victims of the fire were the mother, Mrs Anwuzia, the children, Ekene 16, and Emeka 17, an aunt, identified only as Philomena, and another yet-to-be- identified man.

It was learnt that the father was not at home when the incident occurred.

A friend of the children, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said he was talking to one of the victims when the incident happened.
