It was the last subject was the day and the biology teacher, Mr. Kukule had just left the class. She sat back heavily on her seat, looking at her friends walked out of the classroom. But she can't stay long in the school or she did be in trouble. She stood up just like her best friend Shade, who is in the Art called to her from the opened window
Eh, Temi, are you not going home? I am so hungry, so you better pack up your things and let be on our way or I will leave you behind" she said
"I'm coming, Shade, just give me a minute to pack my books" Temi called out to Shade.
"You better hurry up" shade responded has she moved from one foot to the other and swinging her bag from it handle.
Seeing the impatient of her friend, Temi quickly pack her well used and torn bag and join Shade outside.
"But, Temi, you can't avoid going home, though I understand what you are going through but you have to go home or do you what happened the last time to happen again" Shade, said immediately she spotted, Temi at the the classroom entrance.
" You are not in my shoes or you won't talk like that. You just don't know what she is like" Temi said to her frie
For a while they were quiet has they walked along the road. Both consumed with their thought. Suddenly, Shade, shouted happily " Temi, Temi, I forgot to tell you, my dad gave me my WASCE fees and I've already paid in the principle's office this morning. What about you, when are you paying? Singer, Gloria Maduka sets for first Nigeria performance
Award-winning Nigerian-born Gloria Maduka and international singer-songwriter, is set to have her first performance in Nigeria after being in the country for over one year. Gloria has been the key on-air personality on Inspiration Fm in Lagos, and has yet to display the talent she is known for in the United States. She is fondly called ‘Miss giving you what you need’ on the station. However, come next week, the songstress will be performing to a live band at the Summer Jam concert holding at the Oriental Hotel Lagos.
The performance will give Nigerians first-hand experience of her rich talent and unique style of music. According to her, her music and dance styles are influenced by mainstream pop rock infused with African elements. From a tender age, Maduka was exposed to some of the music industry's greatest artists including Bob Marley, Christy Lane, Mary McKee and The Genesis, Jim Reeves, Amy Grant, and Abba. These childhood influences spurred her music interest. While a young teenager in Africa, Maduka began to perform in church to large audiences. The connection she felt with the audiences and several ovations she received led to the creation and direction of her church's youth choir for three years before departing for the US to further pursue her career in music and college degrees.
Maduka has developed a unique trademark which is enhanced by her ability to also write and sing in Yoruba and Spanish. Her techniques with the conga, bongo, and djembe among other percussion instruments set her apart from other female artists. In spite of Maduka graduating Magna Cum Laude and being the only Honors student in her graduating class, she gave up law school in pursuit of her music dreams. A few months later, Maduka was invited to sing her own ces.
12 soldiers sentece to death for mutiny
The Maimalari Cantonment is the headquarters of 7 Division, the newest Division of the Nigerian Army.
Military sources said that soldiers at the cantonment had been complaining of insufficient ammunition, food and allowances prior to the GOC’s visit.
They were also reportedly unhappy and their morale was at its lowest ebb because there had not been troop rotation for a long time since their deployment to combat Boko Haram terrorists in the North- East.
“The GOC’s visit coincided with the arrival of the corpses of soldiers killed in an ambush in Chibok on the night of May 13, 2014.
“The apparently agitated soldiers, on sighting the corpses of their slain colleagues became hysteric. Some opened fire on the GOC, who was lucky to have escaped unhurt. However, the bullets hit and seriously injured some of his bodyguards, who also fled to safety,” the source said.

Nigerian pastors need to be born again- Etcetera
Former singer turned social critic, Etcetera, wrote this new piece on why Nigerian pastors need to be born again. I think it is an interesting write up. Pls share your thought..... Read below
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be
born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter
into the kingdom of God. That which is born of
the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye
must be born again” (John 3:1-7).
Pastors are supposed to be the conscience of the
society. They are supposed to be God’s
representatives here on earth. Like Elisha in the
Bible, they are supposed to warn the people
about the dangers of disobeying God and guide
them to the path of righteousness. Read more after the cut

Chimamanda Adichie's satire " Oga Jona"
As soon as he opened his eyes, he felt it.A
strange peace, a calm clarity. He stretched. Even his limbs were stronger and surer. He
looked at his phone. Thirty-seven new text
messages – and all while he was asleep.
With one click, he deleted them. The empty
screen buoyed him. Then he got up to
bathe, determined to fold the day into the
exact shape that he wanted.
Those Levick people had to go. No more
foreign PR firms. They should have made
that article in the American newspaper
sound like him, they should have known
better. They had to go. And he would not
pay their balance; they had not fulfilled the
purpose of the contract after all. Continue...
He pressed the intercom. Man Friday came in,
face set in a placidly praise-singing smile.
“Good morning, Your Excellency!”
“Good morning,” Oga Jona said. “I had a
revelation from God.”
Man Friday stared at him with bulging eyes.
“I said I had a revelation from God,” he repeated.
“Find me new Public Relations people. Here in
Nigeria. Is this country not full of mass
communication departments and graduates?” Read more after the cut
“Yes, Your Excellency.” Man Friday’s eyes
narrowed; he was already thinking of whom he
would bring, of how he would benefit.
“I want a shortlist on my table on Wednesday,”
Oga Jona said. “I don’t want any of the usual
suspects. I want fresh blood. Like that student
who asked that frank question during the
economic summit.”
